Fundraisers and Fines

Sponsorship

Ok, well I have been chatting to the new Manager of the Reeds (The Swan) about fundraising or sponsorship, and although he is unable to directly back us financially, we may very well be able to come to some arrangements as the season goes on, any further news re this will of course be posted here.

Of course, we are always looking for more backing or sponsorship, no matter how insignificant so please keep speaking to any contacts that you think may wish to assist.

Fines

The sole reason for introducing a fine system is to raise funds for an end of season get together.

The fines are never meant to single out mistakes, they are meant to be a bit of fun and of course raise funds for the end of season pot. Chances are (if workable) that I will try to manufacture ad-hoc fines for everyone each week to ensure that the pot is actually being added to, the fines will never be anything significant, 20p here etc etc.

Tactics and Tic Tacs and other stuff

We were considering getting Steve Mclaren in to take the Coach's role, allowing the players to really get down and concentrate on the playing side of things, but then we realised that nobody could speak Dutch so we wouldn't be able to understand him.

Here's Steve now...

You see it reminds me far too much of

Which is meant to be funny!! Sorry Steve but we are going to have to look elsewhere, I mean we could all understand Ozzie "eeeeeeh Tottingham" Ardiles but he might struggle with Chawton Athletic.

Fixtures

Kit Update - Home Kit - Blue Shirt - White Short and Socks, Away Kit -Yellow Shirt - Red Shorts and socks.

Fixture Update - Apologies the fixture list published here originally and on the sportstoday website http://www.sportstoday.co.uk/ is apparently incorrect, we do in fact start our league campaign on the 14th September away to Hartley Wintney.

Injury Update - Patrick Cross suffered a dead leg in a clash with Ben at Tuesday's 5 a side at the sports centre, the injury is reacting well to treatment, probably a pint or two and a crafty woodbine, so Pat should be available for the friendly on the 31st August against Wonka's Weybridge C team.

George Petrie copped a nasty one in the unmentionables from Ben, it's just Karma man, just minutes before George had caught Ben in the face with the ball, both incidents were highly amusing, they are both fine though George had one or two problems "catching his breath".

No other injuries reported so we should have a full(ish) squad to choose from for Sunday.

Ground Update - as far as we are aware the friendly against Weybridge c team may very well take place at Froyle, but more details to follow.

The team is coming together nicely now, here is a list of the squad, starting with me, of course.

Matt Ireson
Seth Lodge
Ian Crossley
George Petrie
Jonathan Charlton
Rich
Ben
Lee
Vinny
Kevin
Robby
Paul (?)
Razz (?)
Patrick Cross
Pat's mate
Matt's brother Paul if the need arises
James Cass

You never know I might even find out some of their surnames at some point. We could always do with more players and of course sponsors.

The First of many posts

Good morning and welcome to the Blog site of Chawton Athletic Football Club.

We are a new team put together with the players from two friendly 5 a side teams that play each other every Tuesday at Alton Sports Centre. We are entered into the Farnham and District Sunday league and kick off our maiden league campaign with an away tie against CSL Hartley Wintney on the 14th September 2008.

Prior to that, we are due to play a friendly against the Weybridge C team on Sunday 31st August, which as they say, could very well be an interesting occasion. The game I understand, is due to take place at Anstey Park Diggers.

We are still looking for more players, so if you fancy playing please feel free to contact me mattireson@supanet.com.

Our Chairman, Seth, is currently locating us a home pitch and we are of course looking for sponsorship of any kind. (hey pitches and referees aren't cheap these days you know!) so again if you can assist in sponsoring or fund raising please do not hesitate to contact us.

Over the season I hope to post fixture details and of course detailed (and hopefully fairly tongue in cheek) match reports, so goodbye for the time being. Next post due after the friendly Sunday.
